Hope its ok to post, I'm really proud of ourselves — my husband and I made our last payment on debt today (except mortgage). It will take a few days to be processed, so its not reflected yet, but its done! <\/p>\n
We live just outside of Vancouver where its so expensive, have a townhouse, and one kid. Both earned about $60K a year. We are totally behind in saving for retirement, but I feel really, really relieved to have the pressure of debt gone. I don't really talk finance with friends, so just wanted to tell someone!<\/p>\n
Next step is retirement savings as we have no savings.<\/p>\n
We are early 40s<\/p>\n
Mortgage: $267K
RRSP Me: $25K
RRSP Husband: $20K<\/p>\n
That's it! <\/p>\n
We can do this right? <\/p>\n
PS I think the nicest thing about debt being gone is my husband was recently laid off, so cutting out the payments will be a big help.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
