How do you guys enjoy life here with so few PTO days?
I've been here for a few years now, moved here for my partner from Europe.
It's fine, but one of the things I can't get around is why is 2 weeks PTO the minimum and I guess even more irritating, is that companies seem like they're doing you a favour by offering 3 weeks and then something like 4 or 5 weeks after 5-10 years of work at the same company?
Where I'm from in the EU it's a minimum of 20 *days but most companies (normally the same ones here in Canada too!) give 25-30 *days not including public holidays.
Overall It seems like everyone's lives are just fixated on work and don't seem to think twice about it.
Edit: wasn't expecting this to blow up this much but to chime, many people are saying they get x and x weeks after x experience or whatever but that's pretty similar in Europe too. I expect I will end up there too after some job hopping (I'm not junior in the work force, fwiw).
What's different and what I don't necessarily agree with here, is that the system in Canada fucks the people working entry level and low income jobs.
