My mortgage just got increased from 750 biweekly to 1050 biweekly.
It’s just like the title says. The big problem? I bought my place 3 years ago where I was in a better place financially. I was working full time, and had no debt. Now, I’m drowning in it because I have had a ton of medical expenses, my husband hasn’t had full time work either, and I have been on disability (60% of my income) this whole time.
I’m terrified I will never dig myself out now. Being disabled is so freaking expensive. I’m going to sell my car to help pay down the debt (it’s fully paid off and I can just use a month-month in my area that has an actual accessible vehicle in their lot). I don’t know what else to do to help get down my debts. We don’t go out, or do anything crazy. We don’t have children. Just two disabled cats that we love to bits. I am on the disability tax credit (Canadian). Yes, we have a budget, but everything is so expensive right now. I cannot move presently because my husband just got a full time job for the first time in three years and needs to stay for the experience on his resume before we move to a more low cost of living city (we are in Vancouver, presently).
Any and all advice, I will appreciate. Thank you in advance.
Edit: thank you to everyone who’s replied. There’s been some really upsetting comments regarding my husband and my pets. I will, for sure, look into cheaper avenues for my medication is it’s available. I am hesitant about moving because it’s 6 months with absolutely no benefits so I have to factor that in if I’m moving provinces. Again. Thank you everyone who’s responded. I’m not going to reply any further because I am very overwhelmed by the amount of replies, and some are quite hostile. But I do appreciate all the emotional labour everyone did in replying to me.
