Why does anyone do food delivery?
Hey everyone.
Last night, I decided to try my hand at delivering food on DoorDash, as they had sent me a promo for an extra $300 if I completed 15 orders.
Here’s how it went:
Orders completed: 15
Dash Time: 5 hours, 28 minutes Active Time: 3 hours, 49 minutes
DoorDash pay: $71.25 Customer Tip: $9.00
Total pay (minus promo): $80.25
Now keep in mind I had to also spend about $20 in gas, my car hit a pot hole that I was sure would rip it apart, and I scraped my exhaust coming out of some persons extremely angled driveway.
With that all that said, I earned about $11 per hour while I was out on the road, potentially damaged my car, and put myself at more risk than I’d be just sitting at home.
So, to anyone who delivers food, why do you do this? Perhaps I did something wrong, but in my Dash I only declined one delivery (was too far), and drove quite quickly to destinations. It felt like most of the time, I was just waiting for the food to be prepared.
Thanks
Edit: for those asking, I did receive the $300 promo, so for that one time it was absolutely worth it
