Landlord rented the unit to higher pricing after told me he is selling it or move in himself
Hi everyone, a few months ago my landlord of a newly built condo in Toronto asked me to move out because he is selling the condo or he is going to move in if he cant sell it. I was the first tenant in that unit.
Now a few days ago, I saw the listing for unit as terminated and in another listing said it is leased for almost 500 more than what I was paying for.
Do I have any legal basis to consult with a lawyer? I heard if they decide to move in and they don’t, it is bad faith and I can be compensated.
Update: Thank you everyone for your response and info, I just checked my copy of the document I signed and it says “Notice to End your Tenancy Because the Landlord, a Purchaser or a Family Member Requires the Rental Unit N12” And he selected reason 2 , the purchaser.
